I love the story, and the way you draw. I especially enjoyed all of the different feet and shoes (les chaussures) in this story, the way they look is expressif amusant and drôle! (I am working on my French). cheers! Beth
ps. I have trouble remembering my verb tenses, plurals, noun genders, and matching them up properly….
Caroline – thank you for creating this voyage through time and space! Voila – I feel like I am in France with you in 1979. Even without the captions, I can follow the wonderful story. The drawings are so expressive. The slump of the shoulders looking at the gate, the energy of the crowd, etc. I marvel at your attention to the littlest of details and then the way you carry a detail (like your yellow sweater) through each panel.
And….I did not know about the May Day in France and appreciate the “moral of the story” at the end. Well done!
Grateful for the Colorful Caroline Crayons infusion into my Sunday xoxo
MB – thanks for your insightful comment. I do work hard on details, and it is gratifying to know that someone notices it. I’m glad you enjoyed your time and space travel.
Happy May Day, Caroline! Love this episode in your Crayons Encore! Enjoyed the story line. Love your attention to detail down to the various accoutrements in your student dorm room (the bedside alarm clock, the small electric cooktop and coffee maker on the shelf). I remember you relating this story many years ago. Do I also remember in your earlier years that you created and delivered secret May Day baskets on our street?
Beautiful
Thanks for stopping to comment Ellen. Happy almost May Day.
